YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a vigilant Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions, enforce pool rules, and promote youth development and healthy living. You will support the Aquatics team, perform safety checks and assist with audits and trainings.

Must hold current lifeguard credentials, complete required certifications within 30 days, and pass swim assessments. Flexible, on-site hours include days, evenings and weekends at our aquatic facilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Minimum of one year of Lifeguard experience.
• Demonstrate Lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard and obtain YMCA Lifeguard certification within 30 days of hire, or first available class.
• Must obtain or have: BLS/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen certifications; Compliance Training requirements.
• Must obtain Lifeguard Supervisor certification prior to first shift.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.

Responsabilités

• Knows and understands all emergency procedures and responds immediately per YMCA standards.
• Enforces safety rules, swim testing procedures, and pool guidelines.
• Maintains pool area cleanliness and performs routine maintenance tasks.
• Performs pool chemical testing and keeps accurate records.
• Conducts daily equipment checks and ensures required equipment is available.
• Monitors pool hazards and prevents accidents.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; minimum four hours in-service monthly.
• Maintains vigilance and performs rescues within 20 seconds when needed.
• Leads and guides other lifeguards on duty.
• Supports Aquatics Director with audits, drills and skill evaluations.
