Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a dedicated Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming environments, supervise pool areas, and uphold safety protocols. The role requires strong vigilance, ability to respond to emergencies, and collaboration with staff to promote youth development and healthy living.

Ideal candidates hold current Lifeguard certification and are prepared to complete YMCA certifications within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard Certification or Red Cross Lifeguard, or obtain YMCA Lifeguard Certification within 30 days of hire.
• Current or must obtain ASHI certifications for CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and related safety trainings.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people through clear communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe pool conditions and enforce safety rules.
• Perform pool chemical testing and keep accurate records.
• Conduct daily pool and equipment checks; ensure supplies are available.
• Monitor for hazards and respond promptly to prevent accidents.
• Attend required trainings and in-service sessions; comply with policies.
