Job summary

ASML in San Diego is seeking a Senior Laser & Optics Design Engineer to translate emerging laser and optical concepts into engineered, testable systems that advance next-generation LPP-EUV and DUV laser sources. The role combines design, modeling, hands-on experimentation, integration, and validation to demonstrate performance and prepare concepts for future product development.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 3+ years or Master’s with 6+ years in laser physics, optics, photonics or related field.
• Strong foundation in laser/optical system design, integration, alignment, characterization and troubleshooting.
• Ability to translate high-level requirements into practical subsystem designs and verification plans.
• Experience applying optical modeling and engineering analyses to guide design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, and validate laser and optical systems including architectures, subsystems, diagnostics, controls, and hardware.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver program objectives and manage technical risk.
• Develop system models and analyses to guide decisions, predict behavior, and reduce risk.
• Translate evolving system needs into implementable subsystem requirements and verification criteria.
• Own detailed engineering execution, including design reviews, testing, documentation, and timely delivery.
