Job summary

ASML in San Diego is seeking a Senior Laser & Optics Design Engineer to join the Source Research team, translating emerging laser concepts into engineered, testable systems for next-generation LPP-EUV and DUV lasers. The role blends hands-on experimentation with rigorous modeling and documentation to mature concepts for future product development.

You will design, build, validate, and model optical and laser subsystems, collaborating across scientists, engineers, and product teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 3+ years or Master’s with 6+ years in laser physics/ optics.
• Strong foundation in laser and optical system design, integration, alignment, characterization, troubleshooting.
• Translate evolving system needs into practical subsystem designs and verification plans.
• Proficient with optical modeling, Gaussian beam propagation; Zemax preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute detailed design, integration, and validation of laser/optical systems, including subsystems and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver program objectives.
• Develop and utilize system models to guide design decisions and reduce risk.
• Translate high-level needs into subsystem requirements and verification criteria.
