Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a lead level Property Claims Adjuster for field-based work in Washington. You will investigate high exposure homeowner claims, determine liability, secure information, and settle claims while spending substantial time in the field and occasionally visiting offices for meetings or trainings.

The role requires advanced Xactimate skills, 5+ years of field personal lines experience, and a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience handling field property personal lines claims.
• Advanced Xactimate experience required.
• Prefer someone who has handled claims over $50,000.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of high exposure claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, SIU, other adjusters, etc.
• Checks for prior claims and recognizes environmental exposures.
• Participates in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, and negotiates with insureds, claimants, attorneys, public adjusters.
• Responds to customer inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files as needed.
• Mentors less experienced adjusters.
