Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a lead-level property claims adjuster in Washington. This field-based role will investigate high exposure homeowner claims, determine liability, secure information, and settle claims with a strong emphasis on customer service and independent decision making.

Travel up to 50% with catastrophe travel up to 75% as applicable; relocation support offered. Requires Advanced Xactimate experience and 5+ years in field property claims.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle high exposure field property claims across multiple policy types.
• Strong customer-focused solutions and service orientation.
• Experience handling complex claims with independent decision making.
• Extensive knowledge of policy coverages and endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of high exposure claims; coordinates with insureds, claimants, and experts.
• Participates in HDRs to address coverage and exposure; handles claims in good faith.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims; negotiates with involved parties.
• Conducts on-site inspections; evaluates damages and negotiates settlements.
• Maintains communications on claim status and directs appropriate questions.
• Interprets policies and endorsements and applies to assigned losses.
• Mentors less experienced adjusters and participates in projects as needed.
