Job summary

Amazon Leo in San Diego is seeking a Broadband Phased Array Architect to join the Payload Architecture team. You will lead the architecture of our Ka-band multi-beam phased array payload, spanning RF front-end to digital beamforming and modem interfaces.

This hands-on role requires deep experience in FPGA/ASIC, high-speed interconnects, Ka-band RF design, and collaboration across systems, HW, silicon, calibration, and verification teams.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Ka-band RF systems and multi-beam payloads.
• Expertise in digital beamforming, FPGA/ASIC platforms, and high-speed interconnects.
• Experience in link and system-level simulation (MATLAB/Python/C++).
• Experience with RF measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Translate throughput and coverage requirements into payload requirements considering thermal, power, and mass constraints.
• Propose and own the broadband phased array architecture across the full signal chain.
• Collaborate with systems, HW design, antenna, silicon, and calibration teams to realize architecture.
• Contribute to customer link performance and end-to-end link budgets.
• Define phased array requirements from system needs to subsystems.
• Develop verification test plans to validate requirements.
• Define signal integrity requirements for high-speed serial links and review SI analyses.
• Support Ka-band RF front-end architecture trade studies.
• Drive capacity mode management to scale beams and reconfigure resources.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for roadmap.
• Support production and on-orbit debugging; hands-on and on-call.
