Job summary

Amazon Leo in San Diego seeks a D2D Phased Array Architect to join the Payload Architecture team. You will shape the architecture of a cellular-band phased array system delivering connectivity from space to unmodified smartphones.

The role is hands-on and on-call, collaborating with systems, HW design, antenna, silicon, and calibration teams to translate requirements into implementable designs and test plans. Requires a Master’s or PhD in EE and 7+ years in wireless/phased array design.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field.
• Experience in wireless system design, integration and RF analysis.
• Experience with link/system simulators (MATLAB, Python, C++).
• Experience with RF measurement equipment such as power meters and spectrum analyzers.
• 7+ years designing 3GPP-based wireless systems for terrestrial or satellite networks.
• Phased array design principles including beamforming and antenna integration.

Responsibilities

• Translate service and coverage requirements into D2D payload requirements.
• Own D2D phased array architecture from antenna to modem interface.
• Collaborate with HW, antenna, silicon, and calibration teams.
• Contribute to customer link performance and end-to-end budgets.
• Define requirements and test plans; support verification.
• Define signal integrity requirements for high-speed interconnects.
• Support RF front-end and DPD/CFR architecture trade studies.
