Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer - Scrum Master to join the Air Traffic Business Area, supporting next-generation flight service and air traffic systems. This hybrid role splits time between hands-on Java development and Scrum Master duties on a SAFe Agile team.

Candidates should have 8+ years in software, strong Java, Spring, REST, cloud-native, and proven SAFe Scrum Master experience. U.S. citizenship and favorable SF-85P Public Trust are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of prior experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and reviewing Java applications.
• 2+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile team within a large-scale software development environment.
• Extensive experience with Web development and commonly used front-end tools and languages (React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Extensive experience with unit testing tools such as Junit and Mockito.
• Experience with RESTful API, JSON, XML, XSD.
• Significant experience with Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Boot.
• Significant experience with Linux.
• Significant experience with version control systems such as Git or Subversion.
• Experience with common development tools and IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code, etc.).
• Understanding of sound software development principles and practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to obtain SF-85 Public Trust (Tier 2) suitability determination.
• US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Approximately 50% hands-on software engineering: design, develop, test, review, and maintain production-quality cloud-native Java microservices.
• Approximately 50% Scrum Master responsibilities: facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, promote continuous improvement, and help the team deliver predictable sprint outcomes.
• Leverage DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering best practices to accelerate delivery of secure software.
• Coordinate with the Release Train Engineer, management, and stakeholders to communicate team status, risks, dependencies, and delivery progress.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration across teams to ensure successful sprint execution and project delivery.
