Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer - Scrum Master to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the modernization of next-generation flight service and air traffic systems. This role blends hands-on Java engineering with Scrum Master leadership in a SAFe environment.

You will design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native Java microservices while guiding Agile ceremonies and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s with 6+ years.
• 5+ years designing, developing, and reviewing Java applications.
• 2+ years as a Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile team in large-scale software development.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML; Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Strong Linux experience and proficiency with Git/Subversion.

Responsibilities

• Approximately 50% hands-on software engineering: design, develop, test, review, and maintain production-quality cloud-native Java microservices.
• Approximately 50% Scrum Master responsibilities: facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, and help the team deliver sprint outcomes.
• Leverage DevSecOps, CI/CD, and secure coding practices to accelerate delivery of high-quality software.
• Coordinate with Release Train Engineer and stakeholders to communicate status, risks, and delivery progress.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration across teams to ensure sprint success.
