Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Java Software Engineer - Scrum Master to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the development of next-generation flight service and air traffic systems. This hybrid technical role couples hands-on software engineering with Scrum Master duties within a SAFe Agile environment.

You will spend roughly half your time designing, developing, testing, and maintaining production cloud-native Java microservices, and the other half facilitating Agile

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of experience or equivalent
• 3+ years designing, developing, and reviewing Java applications
• 1+ years serving as Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile team within a large-scale software development environment
• Experience with RESTful API, JSON, XML

Responsibilities

• Approximately 50% hands-on software engineering: design, develop, test, review, deploy, and maintain production-quality cloud-native Java microservices.
• Approximately 50% Scrum Master responsibilities: Facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, promote continuous improvement, and help the team deliver predictable sprint outcomes.
• Leverage modern DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, AI-assisted development tools, and engineering best practices to accelerate the delivery of secure, high-quality software.
• Coordinate with the Release Train Engineer, management, and cross-functional stakeholders to communicate team status, risks, dependencies, and delivery progress.
• Support deployment, operational troubleshooting, and resolution of critical issues in development, test, and production environments.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration across engineering teams to ensure successful sprint execution and project delivery.
