Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration in Colorado Springs, CO, seeks a Principal Software Engineer to develop Java software for the C2BMC Global system. The role focuses on a large, distributed environment supporting national defense and requires a Top Secret clearance.

You will design, code, test, and maintain software, participate in benchmarking and debugging, and collaborate with engineering, test, cyber, and operations teams. On-site work only.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience; or Master’s with 3 years; or 9 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Active Top Secret government clearance required at start.
• Proficiency in Java with design, development, testing and troubleshooting in a distributed environment.
• Experience in Unix/Linux development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based software for the C2BMC Global system in a large, distributed mission environment.
• Provide in-depth analysis and support of a large Java codebase across design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Follow specifications to modify functionality, ensuring robustness, performance, and maintainability.
• Design, code, test, and implement automation tools to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
• Assist with software design, benchmarking, debugging, and documentation for new capabilities.
• Interface with systems engineering, integration and test, cyber, operations and other teams to resolve problems and set standards.
• Analyze performance issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Work independently and in small teams in a dynamic environment; adapt to changes and priorities.
• Prepare and maintain design descriptions, test plans, reports, and user materials.
• Apply established software practices and coding standards for quality and compliance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement using lessons learned and new technologies.
