Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration seeks a Sr Principal Software Engineer (26-355) in Colorado Springs, CO. This on-site role focuses on Java development for the C2BMC program, with responsibilities across UI, enterprise services, and RA-An.

You will work with a regional applications team, contributing to software across multiple systems and customer needs. The position requires a DoD Secret clearance, extensive Java/J2EE experience, and leadership in Agile teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/Engineering/Math/Physics or related field with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s with 6+ years; 12 years may substitute.
• Current in-scope DoD Secret clearance required to start.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one other OO language (Java, C#, or C++)
• Ability to mentor and motivate junior engineers in a collaborative environment
• Strong Java/J2EE experience and software engineering practices
• Experience with automated testing, build pipelines (CI/CD), and configuration management
• Experience developing enterprise apps on Linux (Windows is a plus)
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and Agile teams

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth analysis and technical support for complex systems software products
• Debug, configure, and build related software
• Develop or modify OS applications from specifications
• Design, code, test, and document programs
• Coordinate with other support groups to resolve issues and improve efficiency
• Create tools for operational automation
• Lead small software-focused teams as needed
• Participate in software integration and formal testing
• Apply best practices across multiple teams and architectures
• Mentor and guide junior engineers on technical challenges
