Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Analytical Engine team. This globally distributed, fully remote team builds analytics capabilities in Elasticsearch using a new compute engine and ES|QL query language.

You will design, implement, and improve features, while addressing bugs and performance at scale. You will collaborate across continents with teams building UI and API layers, and you’ll drive architectural decisions and code quality

Qualifications

• Strong skills in core Java and standard library
• Experience with software systems engineering
• Desire to optimize data structures and algorithms
• Autonomy to drive projects end-to-end
• Collaborative development with asynchronous communication

Responsibilities

• Build data-intensive new features and fix bugs in Elasticsearch
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams including UI and API teams
• Improve areas of Elasticsearch based on questions and instincts
• Triage and handle issues and pull requests from the community
• Write idiomatic modern Java for Elasticsearch (99.8% Java)
