Job summary

The Search AI Company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Analytical Engine team. This fully remote, globally distributed role focuses on building data-intensive features in Elasticsearch’s analytics capabilities and improving performance within the ES|QL framework.

You will contribute in Java, collaborate across continents, and own features end-to-end, including code, reviews, and community interactions. A strong background in Java and data structures is required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in core Java and concurrency constructs with lambdas.
• Experience in software systems engineering.
• Strong data structures and algorithms knowledge.
• Able to work autonomously on end-to-end initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative on the Internet.

Responsibilities

• Build data-intensive new features in Elasticsearch and fix bugs while keeping code understandable.
• Research data structures/algorithms to implement new functionality; may implement data structures as needed.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team across UI and API groups to ensure good UX and robust APIs.
• Improve Elasticsearch areas based on questions and instincts to drive quality and performance.
• Engage with open-source community on issues and PRs, sometimes triaging and sometimes owning tasks.
