Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the replacement and modernization of its wire platform, developing Java/Spring Boot applications and helping move from on-prem to Azure.

The role requires 5+ years of software development experience, banking/financial services exposure, and will involve 4 days onsite in Buffalo, NY, with 2 technical interviews—virtual and/or in-person for local candidates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build integrations for new releases and banking systems.
• Contribute to the replacement of the existing wire platform.
• Support migration from on-prem/colocation to Azure.
• Develop high-quality, scalable production code.
• Collaborate with technical teams to deliver new functionality and releases.
• Work on AI/agentic technology initiatives where applicable.
