Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking an Engineering Team Lead in Buffalo, NY to guide a software engineering team delivering modern enrollment and onboarding experiences across digital channels. You will lead delivery, collaborate with Product, Architecture, UX, and stakeholders, and provide technical leadership on full-stack solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

Qualifications

3+ requirements: 9+ years in education/work with 4+ years in engineering/architecture and 3 years leadership
Strong Java, Spring Boot, API, and microservices expertise
Angular and/or React development experience
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience leading cross-functional teams and large initiatives

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers.
Drive delivery of strategic enrollment and onboarding initiatives.
Partner with Product, Architecture, UX, and business stakeholders to define priorities and roadmaps.
Provide technical leadership across full-stack solutions leveraging Java, Spring Boot, APIs, and modern web technologies.
Ensure delivery excellence through Agile practices, CI/CD, test automation, and engineering best practices.
Manage technical dependencies, risks, and cross-team coordination.
Support cloud modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
