Job summary

M&T Bank seeks a Full Stack Software Engineer for the API Services organization, supporting the Development Portal Team in Buffalo, NY. You will design and build Java backends and Angular front-ends, creating API-driven solutions powering internal and external banking apps.

You will work across SDLC, review code, ensure security and performance, and contribute to enterprise integration platforms and AI-assisted development initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ systems analysis and/or application development experience or 3 years with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language
• Experience developing Java-based applications and services
• Experience with Angular or similar front-end frameworks
• Full Stack engineering across frontend, backend, and integration layers
• Experience working with APIs, RESTful services, and API-driven architectures
• Experience using source control and SDLC tools

Responsibilities

• Work independently and within the SDLC to design, develop, and support applications
• Design, develop, and enhance Java-based backend services and Angular front-end applications
• Build and support API-driven solutions and integrations for internal and external banking apps
• Review pull requests, provide feedback, and manage changes to ensure code quality
• Write clean, secure, and maintainable code with appropriate data structures and algorithms
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and stakeholders to document technical implementations
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to architecture discussions for API platforms and enterprise integration
