Job summary

M&T Bank, based in Buffalo, NY, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable applications within the SDLC. You’ll work with .NET, ASP.NET Core, Angular, and SQL Server to deliver RESTful APIs and modern web apps.

In this role, you’ll review code, implement automated tests, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive secure, resilient software solutions in an Agile/SAFe environment. Strong DevOps and cloud experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis and/or application development experience or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages.
• Strong experience with Microsoft .NET, ASP.NET Core, C#, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting RESTful APIs and modern web applications.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, database design, optimization, and query development.
• Experience developing ETL processes and working with SSIS or similar data integration technologies.
• Experience building and executing automated unit and integration tests using xUnit, Moq, Jasmine, Karma, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience with source control systems, build automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with Azure cloud services and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, application architecture, and SDLC methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Work independently within the approved SDLC to design, develop, and deploy applications that meet business needs and minimize risk.
• Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications using .NET, ASP.NET Core, Angular, SQL Server, and related technologies.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs, responsive web apps, ETL solutions, and scalable databases.
• Review pull requests, provide feedback, and manage change requests.
• Write organized, secure, and maintainable code in one or more programming languages.
• Utilize source control and CI/CD pipelines to deploy applications and ensure SDLC compliance.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Analyze and critique technical and business requirements for feasibility and completeness.
• Collaborate and communicate technical implementation details with teams on dependent requirements.
• Conduct code reviews focusing on quality, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technology roadmaps with stakeholders.
• Leverage Azure cloud services and DevOps practices to improve delivery and operational efficiency.
• Participate in Agile/SAFe delivery teams and continuous improvement activities.
• Adhere to risk, regulatory standards, policies, and controls; escalate issues as needed.
