Job summary

Tarrant County College is seeking an IT Support Specialist to identify, analyze and solve business problems through testing PC-based solutions. You will work independently on maintenance and troubleshooting of current PC configurations and assist a Senior Support Specialist with large and/or complex installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of one year experience in information services.
• Driving may be required.
• Must have a valid and current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Accepts Help Desk calls and provides on-site technical support to troubleshoot PC problems or routes users to appropriate personnel.
• Analyzes and resolves PC user problems by telephone, remote connections, and on-site. Also installs, configures, and maintains software and hardware.
• Manages network accounts and security profiles for county computer users and computers, defining access rules and monitoring security.
• Uses system monitors to detect problems in the network or operating system that could affect system availability.
• Performs small scale wiring projects and schedules and performs equipment installations, relocations and removals.
• Provides end users with technical training on software, hardware and Internet use; advises on purchases/upgrades within budget.
• Assists with installs of new software releases, system upgrades and patches.
• Performs other duties in the IT Department as required.
