Job summary

Dow Inc. is seeking a Senior IP Counsel to join the Commercial & Innovation Law group. The role will provide counsel on intellectual property matters with emphasis on packaging and specialty plastics, supporting global clients and internal teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating IP agreements, managing patent portfolios, and advising on IP strategy to protect Dow’s competitive advantages. Candidates should have a JD/LL.M.

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.M. degree required.
• 4+ years IP law experience, in-house or with a major firm.
• Bar admission in good standing; US practice eligible.
• B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related technology.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, business-focused IP counsel on patents, trade secrets, licensing, and IP-related transactions.
• Review, draft and negotiate technology development, research, confidentiality, license, and joint development agreements.
• Identify IP risks and opportunities in meetings with business and functional teams and craft solutions to enable innovation.
• Develop IP strategies that align with business objectives and maximize the value of Dow's IP assets.
• Build and manage patent portfolios, draft and prosecute patent applications, and supervise outside counsel.
• Deliver client training on IP topics in line with Legal department curriculum.
• Collaborate across legal, business and technical teams and manage resources to match project needs.
