Job summary

Dow Inc. seeks a Senior IP Counsel to advise on intellectual property within its Packaging & Specialty Plastics businesses. You will provide practical, business-focused counsel, manage patent portfolios, and negotiate technology licenses in a global, fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong patent, licensing and transaction experience, with leadership in cross-functional teams across geographies and a focus on creating competitive advantage through IP strategy.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor or Master of Laws.
• A minimum of 4 years practicing Intellectual Property law either in-house or with a major law firm.
• Admission to State Bar or eligible for admission.
• B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar technology.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Responsibilities

• Be a simplifier and solver of strategic-level intellectual property challenges for clients in a global, science and technology growth-driven company.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of IP documents including technology development agreements and license agreements.
• Identify IP risks and opportunities in business and functional meetings and develop practical solutions.
• Assist in developing IP strategies that align with business objectives and maximize asset value.
• Build and manage patent portfolios and coordinate with outside counsel for prosecutions.
• Provide client training on IP topics and risk mitigation practices.
