Job summary

Compass is hiring an experienced iOS engineer to lead parts of the platform, collaborate with product and design, and deliver high-quality, scalable mobile applications. You will mentor juniors, influence architecture, and ensure operational excellence across projects.

The role emphasizes ownership, pragmatic trade-offs, and a focus on customer-centric mobile experiences with modern Swift practices and a strong deployment ecosystem.

Qualifications

• BS in CS or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional iOS development experience, Swift/SwiftUI, Concurrency, and Apple deployment ecosystem.
• Ability to collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering stakeholders.
• Master CS fundamentals and iOS design patterns and best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and design sensitivity.
• Experience leading projects from planning to release and mentoring juniors.
• Experience with AI tools and RESTful services.
• Familiarity with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Work in a startup-like environment building agile products and services.
• Collaborate with team, product, and design to launch projects solving real customer problems.
• Influence the product roadmap with technical insights and architectural changes.
• Lead technical trade-offs and propose robust solutions with rationale.
• Independently define and lead delivery of complex projects, mentoring others.
• Perform code and design reviews and write high-quality tests.
• Ensure code quality, monitoring, alerts, and runbooks.
• Serve as subject matter expert for services in your domain.
• Create clear documentation and diagrams for decisions and runbooks.
• Identify bottlenecks to improve developer experience.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers to grow technically.
