Job summary

Travelers Insurance Company in the United States is seeking a Senior Counsel to handle high-exposure insurance defense litigation, from inception through trial and appeal, mentoring junior attorneys and delivering value through local expertise and client service.

You will manage a caseload of complex matters, collaborate with experts, support internal partners, and travel as needed to meet business needs. A JD and 7+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and active license to practice law in applicable state(s).
• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of higher-exposure and complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
• Apply trial skills to cases to verdict or negotiated resolutions.
• Conduct advanced legal research and produce persuasive pleadings, motions and briefs.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other proceedings independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and partners.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Develop relationships with clients and business partners and mentor junior lawyers.
