Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Counsel to independently handle a caseload of high-exposure and complex insurance defense matters from inception through trial and appeal. You will leverage trial experience to achieve favorable outcomes, draft substantive filings, and collaborate with experts to shape case strategy.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in insurance defense, strong advocacy, and the ability to mentor others while traveling as needed to support cases and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree from an accredited school.
• Active license to practice law in required states.
• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Proven jury trial experience and favorable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Handle high-exposure cases and complex litigation from inception through trial and appeal.
• Apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct advanced legal research and persuasive writing.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and trials independently.
• Mentor junior attorneys and staff; train insured clients and partners.
