Job summary

Travelers in the United States is seeking a Senior Counsel to independently manage a caseload of higher exposure and complex litigation matters, including Major Case and Complex Claim matters across lines of business. You will deliver effective outcomes for insured clients and mentor less experienced attorneys.

You will leverage trial experience for verdicts or negotiated resolutions, perform advanced legal research, draft substantive documents, and collaborate with experts to develop

Qualifications

• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Strong aptitude for trying cases to a jury; history of litigating jury trials with successful courtroom outcomes.
• Advanced advocacy skills with ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
• Experience with summary judgment and appellate matters.
• In-depth knowledge of bench and bar practices in relevant jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and complex litigation matters.
• Leverage trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct advanced legal research and draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs and discovery.
• Attend court events, depositions, and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and partners on file handling strategies.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and gather testimony.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff; lead internal training.
• Utilize case management tech and travel as required.
