Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking a Senior Counsel to independently manage high-exposure insurance defense matters and complex litigation. You will leverage substantial trial experience to advocate for insured clients, draft sophisticated pleadings, and coordinate with experts to shape litigation strategy.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of practice, strong courtroom skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining superb client service.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Strong aptitude for trying cases to a jury; proven track record of litigating jury trials.
• Demonstrates strong technical knowledge and can communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
• Advanced oral and written advocacy with potential appellate success.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and urgency.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and complex litigation.
• Leverage trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct advanced legal research and craft persuasive pleadings, motions and briefs.
• Attend court events, depositions and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and partners on file handling strategies.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and prepare testimony.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff and provide internal training.
• Utilize technology and case management systems effectively; travel as required.
