Job summary

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Designer to lead instrumentation and control system deliverables for power generation, renewables, BESS, data centers, substations, and industrial projects. You will guide 3D modeling, BIM coordination, and construction package development, while mentoring junior designers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or related technical discipline preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years of instrumentation design experience in power generation, industrial, utility, renewable energy, data center, or EPC environments.
• Extensive experience supporting large multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects.
• Experience with power plants, battery energy storage facilities, substations, industrial facilities, or mission-critical infrastructure strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of instrumentation and control system design packages for EPC projects.
• Prepare, review, and approve instrument location plans and installation details; loop diagrams; wiring and interconnection diagrams; junction box layouts; instrument cable schedules; instrument indexes and I/O schedules; control panels and cabinets; raceway and cable routing; P&ID markups; and interface drawings.
• Interpret engineering specifications, vendor documentation, client requirements, and industry standards to develop complete and constructible design solutions.
• Ensure instrumentation designs meet operational, safety, maintainability, and constructability requirements.
• Coordinate 3D modeling and BIM activities using AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, Navisworks, and related tools; perform clash detection and issue resolution.
• Provide field verification support, commissioning assistance, RFIs handling, and as-built documentation incorporation.
• Mentor and develop junior designers; uphold safety, quality, and continuous improvement culture.
