Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States seeks an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to lead digital upgrades for nuclear power projects. You will design and review DCS/PLC/HMI systems, perform calculations, and coordinate with vendors and client teams to deliver safe, reliable controls solutions.

You will mentor junior engineers, participate in design reviews and site walkdowns, and help shape modernization strategies for existing plants.

Qualifications

BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
10+ years of experience designing instrumentation and controls systems for heavy industrial plants.
Experience with controls system design including low and medium voltage distribution.
Experience with I&C for nuclear reactor plants (BWR or PWR) including DCS/HSI.
Knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems for plant design.
Experience liaising with clients or as a lead engineer is desirable.
Experience in reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

Develop and market high level, complex programs for nuclear power projects (design, safety, maintenance).
Direct technical decision making in a project team environment for digital upgrades.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve instrumentation & controls issues.
Coordinate design activities to meet specifications and client requirements.
Prepare design input documentation, diagrams, and schematics.
Interface with vendors on materials and equipment specifications.
Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly.
Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
