Job summary

Northern Light Health, in strategic partnership with Optum, is seeking a Senior Inpatient Medical Coder for a fully remote role. You will deliver coding services to providers across the health system, ensuring documentation meets high standards while maintaining productivity.

This full-time position requires 5+ years of coding experience, AHIMA or AAPC credentials, and proficiency with EMR systems. Competitive benefits are offered; candidates must work a nationwide remote schedule from the U.S.

Qualifications

• Current coding credentials from AHIMA or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H).
• 5+ years of coding experience, including outpatient facility and professional coding.
• 2+ years of Observation Coding and ICD-10 experience.
• Proficiency with Windows, MS Excel, and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 assignments for hospital observation services.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in department meetings.
