Job summary

Optum360, part of UnitedHealth Group, seeks a Certified Sr. (IP) Acute Edits Medical Coder for remote work within the United States. You will correct ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and related codes, ensure documentation aligns with policies, and provide provider feedback under supervision of Coding Operations and QM management.

You will work a full-time schedule, with standard hours 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday, and occasional overtime. Telecommute flexibility is available across the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AHIMA/AAPC professional coder certification required.
• 3+ years inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG experience.
• 2+ years OCE, MUE, NCCI knowledge.
• MS Excel and EMR proficiency.
• Experience in level I trauma center or teaching hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services and DRG impact.
• Identify CPT/ ICD-10 codes for outpatient services adhering to guidelines.
• Understand APC codes and related billing structures.
• Abstract additional data during chart review as needed.
• Provide documentation feedback to physicians and query when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge per QM and Coding Ops guidance.
• Participate in coding department meetings and trainings.
• Track charts coded, held, or missing.
