Job summary

Mosaic Life Care is seeking an Inpatient Coder II to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for acute care inpatient services, including LTACH. The role requires coding education and RHIA/RHIT/CCS credentials and involves querying providers to improve documentation accuracy.

Responsibilities include MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignment, collaboration with clinical documentation integrity and other departments, and mentoring junior coders while maintaining coding quality and productivity goals.

Qualifications

• Must have coding education with knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology and anatomy; query guidelines required.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management/Medical Records required; Bachelor’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code ICD-10-CM/PCS for inpatient services including LTACH and swing bed.
• Query providers per Official Query Guidelines to document severity of illness and risk of mortality.
• Assign MS-DRG and APR-DRG in alignment with regulatory guidelines.
• Mentor and train coders; participate in education opportunities.
• Meet coding quality and productivity goals; collaborate with other departments for documentation accuracy.
