Job summary

FNTS seeks a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments and solve complex problems. You will support migrations, backups, and break/fix activities within a remote work setup across the US, with no visa sponsorship.

Join FNTS's managed services engineering team and contribute to DR planning, OS upgrades, and automation while maintaining system documentation and customer communications.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration with 10+ years of experience
• Knowledge of i/OS versions from V5R4 to V7R3
• Experience with POWER systems hardware
• Experience configuring LPARs via HMC
• Experience with storage in JBOD/RAID/SAN environments
• Experience with OS upgrades and PTF deployment
• Familiarity with tape library configuration and implementation
• Experience programming CL
• Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions
• Review issues to proactively prevent problems as part of FI NTS culture
• Perform reporting functions for customers
• Support DR testing/planning and OS upgrades
• Maintain IBM i OS and Licensed Program Products
• Write and maintain system documentation
• Assist migration to FNTS or remote management setup
• Implement technologies to achieve team roadmap and new offerings
• Install OS and major subsystem updates
• Maintain templates and golden/sandbox systems
• Participate as IBM i SME in technical projects
