Job summary

First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) is seeking a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain IBM i environments and drive strategic projects. You will impact migrations, backups, replication, and OS upgrades while working remotely from anywhere in the United States.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of IBM iSeries admin experience, deep knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3, and strong problem-solving and communication skills to support FNTS customers and projects.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration, 10+ years experience
• Knowledge of i/OS systems from V5R4 to V7R3 and major differentiators
• Experience with POWER hardware and LPARs management
• Experience with JBOD, RAID, SAN storage and performance differences
• OS upgrades, PTF deployment, and software installation via Image Catalog
• Experience with CL programming and debugging
• Familiarity with tape libraries, BRMS, and software-based replication
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis to meet SLAs
• Proactively review issues to prevent recurrence
• Perform reporting as requested by customers
• Prepare activities such as DR testing and OS upgrades
• Maintain IBM i OS and Licensed Program Products
• Document system configurations and procedures
• Assist migration to FNTS or remote management setup
• Implement roadmap-driven technologies like LPM and new OS features
• Install new software releases and coordinate testing with customers
• Maintain templates and golden/sandbox systems
• Participate in infrastructure projects as IBM i SME
