First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) seeks a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments, plan migrations, and support break/fix work.

The role is remote, supporting FNTS customers across the United States, with a focus on efficient problem solving and proactive system optimization. Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration with 10+ years experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and differentiators.
• POWER systems hardware knowledge.
• LPARs configured via Hardware Management Console.
• Storage management in JBOD/RAID/SAN environments.
• Printer configurations troubleshooting.
• TCP/IP and related servers in IPv4 (IPv6 a plus).
• Journal management understanding.
• Software replication (MIMIX, iTera, PowerHA).
• BRMS backup solutions for system recovery/migration.
• Familiarity with tape libraries and image catalogs.
• OS upgrades, PTF deployment and software installation.
• Experience using MPG and other performance tools.
• Automation/monitoring tools: Halcyon, absMessage, Robot.
• CL programming proficiency.
• Self-motivated with strong communication skills.
• AV/AR, Flash Copy, Global Mirror knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with timely analysis and solutions.
• Review issues to prevent future problems as part of CI culture.
• Perform reporting functions as required by the customer.
• Plan and perform DR testing, OS upgrades and PTF deployments.
• Maintain IBM i OS and Licensed Product configurations.
• Write and maintain system documentation.
• Assist migration to FNTS or remote management setup.
• Implement roadmap-driven technologies, e.g., Live Partition Mobility.
• Install new OS & major subsystem releases with customer coordination.
• Maintain templates and sandbox/golden systems.
• Participate as IBM i SME on technical infrastructure projects.
