Job summary

First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) seeks an experienced Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments and drive problem resolution across a managed services team.

You will plan migrations, backups, and software replication while expanding customer environments. The role emphasizes incident response, documentation, and collaboration with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration experience (10+ years).
• Knowledge of i/OS versions V5R4 to V7R3 and POWER hardware.
• Experience configuring LPARs using the Hardware Management Console.
• Experience with JBOD, RAID, SAN storage and performance differences.
• Experience TCP/IP configuration in IPv4 (IPv6 desired).
• Familiarity with BRMS backup for system recovery/migration.
• Experience with physical/virtual tape library config & implementation.
• OS upgrades, PTF deployment and software installation via Image Catalog.
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentations).

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions to meet SLAs.
• Review issues to identify opportunities to prevent recurrence.
• Perform reporting as required by the customer.
• Prepare for DR testing/planning, OS upgrades, PTF deployment.
• Maintain IBM i OS and LPPs configurations.
• Write and maintain system documentation.
• Assist customers with migration to FNTS or remote management.
• Implement new offerings using Live Partition Mobility (LPM) and other capabilities.
• Install new OS and major subsystem releases with customer timing/testing.
