Job summary

Valar Atomics Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & I&C Engineer (Hardware) to specify, install, and maintain field instrumentation and control hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing.

You will design panels, classify hazardous areas, and supervise commissioning with a safety-first approach. The role involves SIL work per IEC 61511, loop tuning, calibration programs, and collaboration with process, mechanical, and software teams to ensure robust, compliant systems across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• 5+ years of instrumentation or I&C experience in process industries.
• Hands-on with field instruments, control valves, and data sheets.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and loop diagrams.
• Experience calibrating, loop checking, and commissioning instrumentation.
• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems and IEC 61511.
• Knowledge of hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety.
• Preference for ISA CAP/CCST, PE license, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Select, size, and specify field instrumentation; create data sheets and requisitions.
• Size/authorize final control elements; perform valve sizing and actuator checks.
• Design control panels and remote I/O architecture, including power & grounding.
• Perform hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety calculations.
• Develop and maintain instrumentation docs: loop diagrams, I/O lists, P&ID markups.
• Support SIF hardware scope: SIL determination, selection, redundancy, verification.
• Tune PID and regulatory loops; commission field instrumentation.
• Establish calibration programs with procedures and traceability.
• Oversee installation of field wiring and OT network infrastructure.
• Provide technical direction to contractors and review vendor packages.
