Job summary

Valar Atomics is hiring a Staff I&C Hardware Engineer to specify, design, and maintain instrumentation and control hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities in Utah. You will lead field instrument selection, control panel architecture, and safety instrumented systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and high reliability.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with process and piping teams, and drive commissioning, calibration, and documentation across complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required with 8+ years in instrumentation or I&C.
• Experience specifying field instruments and control valves for capital projects.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and loop diagrams.
• Experience with hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety checks.
• Leadership in instrument index, data sheets, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Specify and size field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, etc.).
• Design control panels and I/O architecture for nuclear facilities.
• Conduct hazardous area classification and IEC/NEC compliance checks.
• Lead instrument data sheets, loop diagrams, and wiring schedules.
• Oversee SIS hardware scope, SIL calculations, and testing plans.
• Tune loops, commission field instrumentation, and validate performance.
