Job summary

Valar Atomics Inc. in Torrance, CA, is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to design, develop, commission, and maintain control systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.

You will handle PLC/DCS programming, SCADA/HMI, ISA-88 batch control, SIS, historian integration, and enterprise interfaces. The role requires leadership of complex projects, contractor oversight, and mentorship of junior engineers, with hands-on calibration, loop tuning, and regulatory control

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years in I&C or controls.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain PLC/DCS programs and HMI/SCADA.
Lead commissioning, FAT/SAT, and safety validation activities.
Mentor junior engineers and oversee contractor deliverables.
Configure alarms per ISA-18.2 and ensure regulatory compliance.
Support cybersecurity hardening per IEC 62443.
