Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead design and development of process control systems for distributed generation, district energy, and related facilities in the US. You will guide I&C engineering across the full lifecycle on EPC and DBB projects, interfacing with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.

The role emphasizes leading design for DCS/PLC, developing instrumentation deliverables, and coordinating with vendors

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from ABET program with 7 years experience; EPC preferred.
• Engineering knowledge per ANSI/IEEE standards; strong communication skills.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects and coordinating teams.
• Ability to travel and obtain TWIC; PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead I&C engineering across all project phases (FEL-1 to commissioning) for EPC and DBB.
• Be the primary client contact for I&C scope; define requirements and present solutions.
• Develop control system architecture, DCS/PLC, IO lists, and E&I deliverables.
• Coordinate with vendors, perform FAT/SAT, and support construction and commissioning.
• Mentor staff engineers and ensure quality in engineering deliverables.
