Job summary

Redtree Engineering is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & I&C Engineer to design and lead control systems for distributed generation and district energy projects, spanning DCS/PLC architectures, instrument data sheets, and P&IDs. You’ll collaborate with process and mechanical teams, review work of junior engineers, and interface directly with clients on defined scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 6–8 years of relevant engineering experience, EPC project experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control design principles, practices, and standards (ISA, ANSI, IEEE).
• Experience developing or reviewing P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
• Willingness to travel to project sites up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of control system architecture, I/O lists, narratives, diagrams for DCS/PLC.
• Develop instrumentation deliverables including data sheets, specs, installation details, location plans.
• Create wiring, loop, and interconnection diagrams for I&C projects.
• Coordinate P&ID development with process and mechanical teams.
• Perform instrumentation sizing calculations for valves, flow, and thermowells.
• Apply measurement and control strategies to select instrumentation for key parameters.
• Support process safety activities (HAZOP) and feed findings into control design.
• Assist procurement with technical specifications, RFQs, and vendor submittals.
• Coordinate FAT/SAT with vendors and provide field support during commissioning.
• Act as client contact on defined I&C scope and mentor junior engineers.
• Interface with other disciplines for integrated design.
