Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support hydropower projects within the Energy & Resources group. You will lead design tasks, supervise a multidisciplinary team, and manage projects from planning to post-construction.

The role emphasizes hydro facilities rehabilitation, control systems, and high/low voltage distribution. Strong communication and PE licensure (CA preferred) are required, with travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• In depth knowledge of US NFPA 70 and related electrical codes.
• Experience with hydro facility rehabilitation, controls and protective relay systems.
• Experience designing interfaces with SCADA/ Control systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional Engineering license and CA PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design tasks for hydro projects from planning through post-construction.
• Supervise project teams and coordinate with clients, owners, and contractors.
• Develop construction packages including drawings and technical specifications.
• Estimate construction costs and monitor field construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, ensuring quality and standards.
• Prepare technical reports and present to stakeholders.
