Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in California with a decade of hydroelectric turbine and water-conveyance project experience. The role focuses on rotating machines and dam outlet works, with opportunities to contribute to refurbishment, modernization, and new plant projects.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams across government and private sectors, handling design, calculations, installations, and client communication while aligning with Stantec standards.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• 10+ years of hydroelectric turbine/generator project experience.
• CA Professional Engineer license preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project engineers and managers on planning, design, CAD drafting, and manufacturing plans.
• Identify project goals with clients and develop strategies to meet objectives.
• Determine mechanical design criteria for turbines/generators and perform supporting calculations.
• Oversee QA/QC and develop inspection/test plans for equipment.
• Attend installation and commissioning activities and perform field measurements.
• Engage with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure alignment with Stantec standards.
• Prepare reports and deliver client presentations; manage interfaces with end users.
