Job summary

Carrier seeks a Sr. Sales Application Engineer to support the sales team with technical expertise, complex Applied HVAC equipment selections, proposals, quoting and submittals. You will translate customer needs into optimized configurations that meet performance, budget and regulatory standards.

This role is remote, supporting the Midwestern region of the United States with preferred locations including Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering field or engineering technology.
• 5+ years of HVAC application engineering or pre-sales technical support.
• 2+ years of experience with Air Handlers and Chillers.
• Ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and optimize Applied HVAC equipment selection based on project specifications for complex, applied HVAC solutions.
• Ensure all quoting, sizing, and equipment specifications align with customer requirements and standards.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and technical improvements in system selection to improve our competitive position.
• Stay informed on industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging HVAC technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
• Develop and refine detailed technical proposals and quotes for complex projects.
• Ensure pricing accuracy, margin optimization, and compliance with discounting strategies.
• Provide technical application support to sales team members.
• Support sales teams in presenting technically sound, competitive solutions to customers.
• Prepare, review, and approve final technical submittals, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry regulations.
• Work with sales and project teams to identify scope gaps, potential risks, and value engineering opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records of project costs, configurations, and customer approvals.
• Provide technical guidance to sales and support teams on complex projects and high‑value opportunities.
• Assist in product training classes (both in‑person and virtual). Present on multiple topics during training.
• Support local and national customer events.
