Job summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer to lead comprehensive calculations for HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems in commercial buildings and wastewater facilities.

The role requires interpreting codes, NFPA standards, and coordinating with other disciplines; hybrid work is possible near our Philadelphia or NYC-area offices with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
• Professional licensure (PE) preferred or in progress.
• Typically 5+ years building mechanical engineering experience.
• BC SMS Framework certification or progression expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations for projects.
• Interpret codes and apply NFPA standards.
• Size ductwork and distribution systems for optimal function.
• Draft and model systems using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Review drawings/specifications for accuracy and consistency.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
• Adapt to evolving project needs.
