Job summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer to lead complex HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations for commercial and wastewater facilities. You will interpret mechanical, plumbing, building, and NFPA codes, size systems, and draft models in AutoCAD and Revit, delivering detailed specifications and coordinated drawings.

The role supports work in the Eastern United States with a preference for candidates near Philadelphia, Ramsey, NJ, or NYC offices; hybrid

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field; required.
Typically 5 years building mechanical engineering experience; SMS framework experience or progression preferred.
Has or is working toward professional engineering license (PE).
Experience drafting/modeling HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems.

Responsibilities

Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations for projects.
Interpret and apply mechanical, plumbing, building, and NFPA codes and standards.
Size ductwork, plumbing, and fire sprinkler distribution systems.
Draft and model systems using AutoCAD and Revit; prepare detailed specs.
Review drawings/specifications for accuracy and coordination with other disciplines.
Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.
Collaborate with clients and internal teams; travel as needed to project sites.
