Job summary

Brown and Caldwell seeks a Senior Building Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to lead complex HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations for commercial and wastewater facilities. You will interpret codes and standards, draft and model systems, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality designs.

This role supports the Eastern United States with a preference to reside near Philadelphia, Ramsey NJ, or NYC offices; hybrid work is available with travel as needed to

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Has achieved or is working toward a professional license (PE preferred).
• 5+ years of building mechanical engineering experience typically required.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations for projects.
• Interpret mechanical, plumbing, building, and NFPA codes and standards.
• Size ductwork, plumbing, and fire sprinkler distribution systems.
• Draft and model systems using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced team members as needed.
