Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC system design across diverse projects, including airside, hydronic, and steam systems. You will manage engineering execution and project delivery, interface with clients, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive mechanical engineering experience, PE licensure in the United States, strong writing skills, and proficiency in Revit and energy modeling tools. Travel up to 10% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering required
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in commercial building design and construction
• Minimum 5 years serving as the primary engineering interface with clients (PM or engineering lead)
• Minimum 5 years of project management and client-facing experience

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and design for HVAC systems
• Lead HVAC design for airside, hydronic, and steam systems through construction documents
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, and engineering analyses
• Conduct lifecycle cost/payback analyses and evaluate industry trends
• Prepare Basis of Design reports and engineering narratives for stakeholders
• Sign and seal mechanical drawings and specifications
• Serve as project manager or engineering lead for mechanical-prime projects
• Develop project schedules and manage resources and budgets
• Collaborate with architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and plumbing teams
• Mentor junior engineers and deliver internal training
