Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Team Leader to guide the mechanical engineering group and deliver high-quality building designs. You will lead a team, manage projects, and collaborate with clients, contractors, and design professionals to solve complex engineering challenges.

The role emphasizes leadership, technical excellence, and hands-on design across HVAC and building systems, with in-office presence four or more days a week in Plano and Miami locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited program (ABET preferred).
• Professional Engineer licensure is required; multi-state licensure is a plus.
• Minimum 12–15 years of professional building mechanical engineering experience, with large/complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mechanical Engineering Team: manage workload, staffing, and resource planning.
• Conduct staff performance reviews and support career development.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules for various projects.
• Lead design of HVAC and mechanical building systems.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform field investigations and develop practical, constructible solutions.
• Prepare basis-of-design narratives, calculations, and specifications.
