Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead HV substation design, serve as EOR, mentor staff, and drive project delivery across planning, design, and construction.

The role requires 15 years of experience, PE license, and willingness to travel domestically or internationally. Preferred locations include multiple U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for substation physical design, including AIS/GIS substations and grounding.
• Review engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations for quality and accuracy.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support design through construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Drive engineering standards development and continuous improvement initiatives.
